Roy Ruiz Clayton

A new arrival to Louisville from San Diego, California, Roy is an intuitive, self-taught artist whose work is sometimes described as in the “outsider” or “Appalachian” style of art. He has an uncanny ability to capture the essence of his subjects in new, exciting and non-traditional ways using an explosion of color, styles and mediums.

Roy’s works have included commissioned paintings for a variety of San Diego festivals, many of which have become posters for the events including the San Diego Blues Festival, San Diego Gator by the Bay/Zydeco Blues Festival, and the Adams Avenue Roots Festival. He has exhibited widely in the San Diego Area including at 3rd Space Gallery/Artist Odyssey where his band “The Grave Diggers” played during opening night. Roy’s art can be found in private collections in San Diego, Louisville, Seattle, Dallas, and beyond.

Roy has also created cover art for several music CD’s, including for the guitarist Marc Ford (formerly of the Black Crows), Grammy Award winning Billy Vera and for his own CD “The New Army of Ragged Angels”.
