Influenced by lavish painters such as John Singer Sargent and Wayne Thiebaud, I thoroughly enjoy the physical quality of paint. I am equally drawn to painters who incorporate pattern in their work such as William Utermohlen and Gustav Klimt. Creating lush passes of flat planes and pattern in my landscape and figure paintings has been the impetus behind recent work. Working in oil, I primarily use birch plywood as my surface. I have shown in group shows: local, national and international and have sold work to both individual and corporate collections.

This year marks my sixteenth year teaching High School art at Walden School in Louisville. I cherish this aspect of my career, but look forward to extended summer days in the haven of my studio.
