Born and raised in the beautiful Bluegrass countryside of Lexington, Kentucky, Debbie Graviss grew up surrounded by horse farms and animals. Encouraged by her parents, Debbie developed an interest in art early in her childhood drawing the horses and pets she shared her life with. She late attended the University of Kentucky earning a BA in Interior Design and later a BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
Debbie began studying oil painting under Betty Plymale of Plymale Galleries which led to her love of the pastel medium due to the spontaneity and fresh, bold colors the pastel medium allows.
Things have come full circle as Debbie enjoys her fine art career creating paintings of domestic and farm animals, equines, landscapes, cityscapes, interiors and still lifes and florals. She expresses her love of life, joy and gratitude in her paintings. Debbie and her husband, Joe, have called Versailles, Kentucky home for eighteen years and live in the country in with their two dogs, three cats and a plethora of wild life on their own little piece of paradise in Woodford County.
