UK artist, Julie Cross, focuses on gesture and silhouette in her colourful figurative paintings. The past Chair of a national art association in the UK and a member of the Society of Equestrian Artists, Julie had a pony-mad childhood in the glorious English countryside and often uses the horse in her work, which usually has an autobiographical element. Carefully-constructed, abstract backgrounds, strong design and beautiful textures abound in these works, offering no pretence of reality of location, giving rein to the viewer’s imagination.
