Marcia Cone

Marcia Cone is a schizophrenic artist who cannot decide what she wants to be when she grows up. She has spent years painting Lexington street scenes, landscapes, and portraits in oil, but over the last few years has discovered the joy of ceramic sculpture and assemblages of created and found objects. Her current mantra is “don’t throw anything away, you may need it!”

Marcia currently lives in Lexington and is a member of the Plein Air painters of the Bluegrass. In 2010 Marcia was one of the artists chosen for Horse Mania, a local fund-raiser benefiting LexArts, and in 2013 she created “Still Cooking” using a bourbon barrel to benefit the same organization. Other works by Marcia include Federal Judicial portraits currently on display in the Fayette County Federal courthouse in Lexington, and a State Supreme Court Judicial portrait which hangs in the State Capitol in Frankfort.
